Photo with 1 note

I woke up one morning realizing that I had been using another amp for over a month because the tubes on mine had gone out.
Tubes don’t all go out at once, but I’m not experienced enough to know which ones have gone out and which ones haven’t. But I do know that tubes, and the quality of tubes, have a significant effect on the tone of the amp. So, I decided on order to the best tone and avoid having to replace another tube sooner that I would replace them all at once.
This can be expensive, especially if you want high quality tubes that deliver high quality tone. So, I spent that morning researching tubes. I watched youtube videos, and read forums and articles, and did everything I could to find out what the best tubes at the best price would be.
I went to tubedepot.com and bought:
2 Tungsol Gold Pin 12ax7s
1 Elctro Harmonix 12ax7
(I’d read that using the tungsol and electro harmonix 12ax7s together, helps your tone… we’ll see!)
1 matched pair of Mullard EL84s
(After I took the amp chassis out I realized I actually needed 4 EL84s)
1 matched pair of JJ EL34s for the rectifier tube
(This was the wrong tube. I needed just 1 JJ GZ34. It’s the tube in the middle that looks entirely too big! haha… It was!)
